Cardamom Cupcakes Recipe

These soft cardamom cupcakes are best enjoyed during cold weather with a cup of tea or a hot coffee! The recipe is fairly simple and you can top with a little bit of cinnamon for that extra holiday spice.

Ingredients:

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 cups of all purpose flour

  • 2/3 cups of sugar

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom

  • 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 cup of whole milk

For the topping:

  • 1/3 cups of sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

  • pinch of sea salt

  • Unsalted melted butter

Steps:

  1. Preheat over to 350º F

  2. Butter bottom surface of a 12 muffin tin

  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cardamom and salt

  4. In another bowl, crack egg and whisk it. Gradually whisk melted butter and milk.

  5. Pour into flour mixture until combined

  6. Scoop the batter into muffin tin filling each well until 3/4 full.

  7. Bake until the tops are light golden brown, about 25 minutes.

  8. For topping, stir together sugar, cinnamon, cardamom and salt. Dip the top of the cooled cupcakes into the melted butter and then into the cinnamon sugar.
